Gale Force Winds Threaten Weekend Ferry Services
9 Apr
Summary
- Gale force winds forecast for the weekend may disrupt ferry sailings.
- Several sailings on Saturday and Sunday are at risk of cancellation.
- Passengers can change bookings for affected sailings free of charge.

Ferry services are expected to face disruptions over the weekend due to an anticipated forecast of gale force winds. The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company has identified several sailings as being at risk of cancellation.
Specifically, the 08:30 sailing of the Manxman from Douglas to Heysham on Saturday, along with its return journey, is in doubt. Fast craft Manannan's crossings between the island and Liverpool on Saturday afternoon and evening are also affected. Furthermore, Sunday's early morning and late morning sailings on the Liverpool route are uncertain.
The Met Office predicts gusts of up to 45mph (72km/h) are likely to impact the island during this period. Adverse weather on Friday has already led to an adjustment of the morning Manxman crossing to Heysham, moving it 30 minutes earlier. Passengers with weekend bookings on at-risk sailings are being offered the option to rebook without charge.
