17 Dec, 2025
Summary
- Winds reaching 60 mph are forecast for Tuesday night.
- Over 8,900 residents across Washington are without power.
- Power outages in Seattle are attributed to equipment failure.

Governor Bob Ferguson has warned of strong winds expected to gust up to 60 mph across western Washington Tuesday night. The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for the region, effective from 4 p.m. Tuesday until 6 a.m. Wednesday, cautioning that unsecured objects could be blown around and tree limbs might fall.
These powerful gusts have already led to significant power disruptions. As of Tuesday evening, 8,939 residents statewide were without electricity. Pierce County alone accounts for 2,747 outages, with Bonney Lake experiencing the most significant impact, according to Puget Sound Energy.
Seattle is also facing considerable power loss, with 1,925 customers affected, primarily in the north end, due to equipment failure. Seattle City Light crews are assessing the situation, with an estimated restoration time around 9 p.m. Tuesday, though this is subject to change upon further assessment.
