A powerful round of mountain snowfall is expected to impact the Washington Cascades, beginning late Tuesday and persisting until early Thursday. Forecasters anticipate accumulations of 8 to 12 inches of snow, primarily above 4,000 feet, creating potentially hazardous travel conditions.
Winter Weather Advisories have been issued for multiple counties, including Whatcom, Skagit, Snohomish, King, Chelan, and Okanogan. The National Weather Service warns that travel could become very difficult to impossible, and residents are advised to slow down, use caution, and prepare for possible power outages.
While heavy snow is forecasted for mountain passes like Stevens Pass, lower elevations may experience several inches. Additionally, flood watches have been issued for areas further south due to potential excessive runoff. Strong winds are also a threat, with gusts potentially reaching 45 mph in some areas.
