In contrast, northern areas will be colder, around 19C, and will receive substantial rain. Scotland's northwest could see up to 32mm of rain per hour, with similar heavy showers anticipated in the Lake District and North Pennines. These showers are expected to move south but dissipate by Friday morning.
Looking ahead, unsettled weather is likely to persist. While many areas may experience showers and rain, southern and eastern parts of the country are expected to have longer dry spells. Temperatures are predicted to remain near average, with possible brief warm spells, especially in the south.
