New weather charts indicate that by December 15, areas in northern England and Wales could experience up to two inches of rain per hour. The Lake District National Park is particularly at risk, potentially receiving up to four inches of rain within a 24-hour period. The heaviest rainfall is expected to shift northwards.
The Met Office long-range forecast, covering the period up to Christmas Day, anticipates unsettled weather with possible heavy rain anywhere, though the west and northwest are likely to see the most persistent downpours. Above-average temperatures are expected, with occasional strong winds and a risk of gales.
