Britain is currently experiencing a period of unsettled weather, with forecasts predicting further heavy rain and strong winds throughout the week. More than 120 areas across the country remain on flood watch, a consequence of the recent Storm Ingrid. The Met Office has issued yellow warnings for southern England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, anticipating up to 80mm of rain and gusts reaching 70mph.
These conditions pose a significant risk of travel disruption, with some communities potentially becoming isolated due to flooded roads. The Environment Agency has issued 97 flood alerts and 19 warnings for England, supported by similar alerts and warnings from Natural Resources Wales and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency. The UK Health Security Agency has activated cold health alerts for northern England, highlighting a greater risk to vulnerable individuals.
