UK Braces for Torrential Rain and Cooler Temps
15 Jun
Summary
- Heavy rain to batter parts of the UK on Tuesday from the west.
- South Wales and Southwest England will experience the heaviest downpours.
- Temperatures to rise by Friday, reaching peaks of 28C.

Unsettled weather is forecast for much of the UK as a band of low pressure sweeps in from the west on Tuesday. The Met Office has warned that heavy rain will affect the country, with the most intense downpours anticipated across South Wales and the Southwest of England. Showers are expected to become more widespread by Tuesday evening, potentially causing disruptions in areas like the Midlands and Northwest England.
Despite the imminent heavy rain, a change is on the horizon as temperatures are predicted to rise throughout the week. By Friday, the mercury could reach as high as 28C, with the East of England anticipated to experience the warmest conditions. While Monday may offer sunny spells, cloud cover will increase heading into Tuesday, bringing coastal fog to the Southwest. Patchy rain will start early on Tuesday in Cornwall, North Devon, and along the Welsh coast before becoming heavier and moving northeastward.
By Tuesday evening, much of central England, extending from Greater London up to Cumbria, is expected to be wet. Scotland will also see lingering showers. These conditions will ease overnight into Wednesday, with isolated showers affecting the southwest coast of England. In contrast, the southeast of England is largely predicted to avoid the worst of the wet weather, enjoying dry conditions with clear spells and gentle winds on Monday evening and brighter weather on Tuesday.
