UK Heatwave Looms: Summer's Final Fiery Farewell?

Recent heatwave conditions in mainland Europe are expected to influence the UK's climate, with temperatures potentially rising again. Warmer air from North Africa has created a high-pressure 'heat dome' affecting countries like France, Spain, and Italy this month.

The meteorological authority indicates that developments over the Atlantic will likely drag warmer air from the continent and subtropical regions towards the UK. This warmer air, combined with building high pressure, is expected to lead to predominantly dry, bright, and sunny conditions by the end of the weekend and into next week.

The Met Office forecasts that UK temperatures could reach the upper 20s Celsius by the end of next week, described as a 'final taste of summer.' There is a possibility of one last heatwave before the month concludes. Summer 2026 was recorded as the UK's hottest on record.

However, this period of warmer weather might be cut short by an uncertain arrival of a colder front from the west. Following this, the weather is predicted to become more changeable, with alternating spells of rain, showers, and short periods of settled weather, bringing temperatures back to near normal.
