Milder conditions are anticipated to return to the UK following a rainy start to the week, with temperatures expected to climb back up to 24C. On Tuesday, heavy rain is forecast across the UK, with temperatures dropping to 11C in Scotland and 15C in the south of England. Despite the unsettled weather, all of Wales and most of England are still experiencing drought conditions, requiring sustained rainfall for reversal.
By Saturday, London is predicted to reach 23C, with highs of 19C in Cardiff and 17C in Manchester. This comes after the Met Office confirmed the UK's hottest summer since records began nearly 150 years ago. Five heatwaves between May and August contributed to the drought, sparking wildfires and travel disruptions. The recorded mean average temperature for June, July, and August was 16.5C, surpassing the previous record of 16.1C set last year.
Changeable weather with occasional rain and showers from the North Atlantic is expected in northern and western UK regions until the end of September. However, drier and more settled periods are forecast for the south. Towards the end of September, high pressure may become more dominant, leading to more stable conditions, warmer days, and cooler nights.
