UK Braces for Unsettled Weather, Blizzard Fears Grow
14 Jan
Summary
- Yellow weather warnings issued for heavy rain and potential flooding.
- Cold air and low pressure systems suggest possible blizzard conditions.
- Snowfall is predicted for January 25th, with temperatures dropping significantly.

Unsettled weather is expected across the UK, with forecasters issuing yellow warnings for heavy rain and potential widespread disruption in southern England and South Wales. As much as 40mm of rain could fall, with isolated spots possibly reaching 70mm. This rainfall is associated with a deepening low-pressure system moving northeastward across the country.
Looking ahead, weather models indicate a return of conditions similar to the 2018 'Beast from the East' storm. This could bring major snowfall to the British Isles by Sunday, January 25th. Temperatures are projected to plummet, with lows of -4C in the south and -10C in the north.
In the interim, Wednesday is forecast to be mostly cloudy with patchy rain in the southeast. Daytime temperatures will be mild, ranging from 5C to 9C. The weather will become increasingly unsettled towards Thursday evening and into the night, with rain and gusty winds arriving from the west.
