Brace for UK Deluge: 100mm Rain Warning Issued
6 Dec
Summary
- Yellow rain warning issued for Monday and Tuesday next week.
- Up to 100mm of rain possible in Wales and southwest England.
- Flooding may cause transport disruption and potential danger to life.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for heavy rain across 32 areas of the UK, effective from Monday evening to Tuesday evening. Significant rainfall, potentially reaching 100mm in some regions of Wales and the southwest of England, is predicted. This could lead to widespread disruption, including road closures and cancellations of train and bus services.
The anticipated rainfall poses a risk of flooding to buildings and businesses, with a possibility of rural communities becoming cut off. There is also a small chance that fast-flowing flood water could present a danger to life, and power cuts may occur. The Met Office advises those in flood-prone areas to prepare emergency kits and check travel conditions.
Looking ahead, the forecast for the latter half of December suggests a return to more unsettled weather. While initial settled conditions are expected, low-pressure systems are likely to dominate, bringing showers and rain, particularly to western parts of the UK. Snow is probable on northern high ground, and strong winds may affect coastal areas.
