The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for snow and ice, affecting numerous areas across England and Scotland starting Thursday. Snowfall is anticipated to begin around 7pm on Thursday in northern England and the Scottish borders, persisting until noon on Friday. Over higher ground, accumulations of 2 to 5 cm of snow are possible, with some locations potentially seeing up to 10 cm, especially above 200 metres.
In other parts of Scotland, snow showers are expected to commence by 4pm on Thursday and continue through Friday noon. While low ground may receive 1 to 2 cm of snow, higher elevations could experience 2 to 5 cm, and locally up to 10 cm. The forecaster also warned of rapidly dropping temperatures leading to icy conditions on untreated surfaces.
