UK Winter Weather: Snow, Ice Warnings Issued!
18 Feb
Summary
- Yellow weather warnings issued for rain, ice, and snow.
- Snow accumulation of 2-5 cm expected on higher ground.
- Yellow warnings indicate low-level travel disruption risks.

The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for widespread conditions including rain, ice, and snow affecting England, Northern Ireland, and Wales on February 18th and 19th.
These warnings are primarily for low-level risks, such as disruptions to travel, impacting daily routines. Steven Keates, deputy chief forecaster, noted that snow may develop on higher ground across the Midlands and mid-to-southeast Wales. Accumulations of 2-5 cm are possible above 150 to 200 metres, with some areas above 300 metres potentially seeing 10 cm or more.
While these warnings are short-lived and do not raise concerns for wellbeing, they advise caution. Traffic Scotland recommends avoiding driving during yellow warnings due to likely congestion and disruption. Amber and red warnings pose greater risks, making travel essential only if absolutely necessary.
