The UK is preparing for significant wintry weather as an Arctic air mass brings widespread ice warnings. Yellow ice alerts are in effect for Wednesday morning across most of the country, including Northern Ireland, with potential for slippery surfaces and travel disruption. Northern Scotland faces the harshest conditions, with a full day's yellow warning for snow and ice, anticipating 5-10cm of snowfall and temperatures plummeting to -6C in rural areas.
As the week progresses, Storm Goretti, originating from northern France, will bring further severe weather. A yellow warning for snow is issued for Thursday evening through Friday midday across much of England and Wales, with areas like Sheffield, Peterborough, Bath, and Worcester expected to be affected. Some regions could see up to 20cm of snow, while the South West faces strong winds with a yellow warning for Cornwall, Devon, and the Isles of Scilly.
