Snowfall is anticipated in several areas of the UK shortly before the Christmas period. WXCharts forecasts indicate snow showers in southern England, particularly affecting Dorset, Hampshire, and Kent, starting on Sunday, December 21. Dorset, including Weymouth, Poole, and Bournemouth, could experience the heaviest snow, with rates of up to 10mm per hour and accumulations of around 5cm by midday.
Hampshire and parts of Kent, such as Waterlooville, Maidstone, and Folkestone, are also expected to receive a lighter covering of snow. These predictions suggest a potential for wintry conditions in these regions just days before Christmas. The forecasts also extend to northern Scotland, with predictions of snow across the Scottish Highlands and Cairngorms National Park.
Conversely, the Met Office's long-range forecast covering the same period does not foresee any snow, instead anticipating rain, potentially heavy and prolonged, along with windy conditions. The Met Office also notes that conditions are expected to become less disturbed closer to Christmas, with overnight frost and fog likely.
