UK Braces for Snowfall: 8 English Areas Warned
30 Jan
Summary
- Eight areas in England are forecast to experience snow today and tomorrow.
- Temperatures will fall, accompanied by a severe wind, leading to snow drifts.
- Heavy rain earlier this week caused flooding across the Southwest of England.

Snow is anticipated across at least eight regions of England within the next 48 hours as temperatures drop significantly. A strong southeasterly wind will make conditions feel much colder, bringing severe gusts to northern England today and contributing to snow drifts. The Met Office has identified Cumbria, Derbyshire, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, Staffordshire, and West Yorkshire as areas likely to see snow.
Authorities are urging the public to take precautions against icy ground conditions, suggesting leaving home five minutes earlier to minimize the risk of slips and falls. Heavy snowfall is particularly expected in Derbyshire and Staffordshire today, with a band of low pressure moving northwards. While most of England will avoid snow, some regions will experience wet conditions.
