UK Snow Alert: 15 Cities Brace for Flurries
30 Nov
Summary
- New snow maps indicate widespread snowfall across the UK.
- A Met Office weather warning is in effect for severe conditions.
- Heavy rain is expected after the snowfall clears on Monday.

Massive snowfall is descending across the UK, with new snow maps from WXCharts highlighting 15 cities expected to experience flurries under a significant Met Office weather warning. Although the most extreme cold has receded, lingering icy conditions and warnings for rain are in effect through Sunday. Snowfall is anticipated to begin over Scotland and northern England on Sunday, November 30, with accumulations potentially reaching 4cm in areas like Aberdeen, Dundee, and Glasgow.
The snow is forecast to progress southward, impacting the north and Midlands. While snowfall in these regions may be lighter, with totals around 1cm, any settled snow is unlikely to last long. This is due to an impending deluge of rain, prompting a yellow alert for the Midlands, commencing at midnight on Monday and lasting over 24 hours.
The Met Office warns of widespread heavy rain, with 20-40 mm expected across the alert area and significantly more on higher ground, potentially reaching 100-120 mm in the Cumbrian fells. Strong winds, with possible gales along coasts and over elevated terrain, will accompany the rainfall, concluding early Tuesday morning.
