UK Prepares for Sizzling Summer Comeback After Soggy Start
22 Jul
Summary
- Thunderstorms and rain to give way to sunshine and highs of 28°C within days
- Fourth heatwave of the summer expected to arrive by end of July
- Met Office warns of more changeable weather patterns in August

The UK is about to experience a dramatic weather turnaround, as the recent thunderstorms and soggy conditions are set to give way to more summery weather within the next few days. Forecasters predict that temperatures could reach as high as 28°C in some areas, with the southeast of England expected to see the best of the conditions.
This sudden shift in weather fortunes is set to begin as early as July 24, with maps showing temperatures starting to rise across the country. By the end of the month, a fourth heatwave of the summer is expected to arrive, with the potential for the mercury to hit 32°C in some regions.
However, the Met Office has warned that the weather patterns are likely to become more changeable in August, with a mix of dry and wet conditions expected across the UK. While the east and southeast may see more settled weather, the west and northwest could experience prolonged spells of rain, especially over the hills.
