Summary
- Heavy rain and flood warnings issued across eight UK areas today.

Heavy rain and flood warnings are currently in effect across eight regions in the UK. Met Office weather maps indicate that some areas could experience up to 8mm of rainfall per hour today.
Authorities have issued an urgent call to action for residents in areas prone to flooding. They are advised to prepare "grab bags" containing essential items such as medication, insurance documents, a torch, and warm clothing to ensure readiness for potential inundation.
The unsettled weather follows a period of mild temperatures, with the Met Office forecasting a significant change by midweek. Steven Keates, Deputy Chief Forecaster, noted that the UK will face increasingly unsettled conditions with periods of rain, strong winds, and much colder air.
Temperatures are expected to range from 6C to 10C, feeling cooler in the wind. Wintry showers are likely, particularly in northern higher grounds, with a possibility of widespread frost and icy patches on Wednesday night. Milder conditions are anticipated by the end of the week, with rain expected on Friday.
The Met Office's long-range forecast for March 29 to April 7 suggests a continuing changeable pattern with rain and strong winds. Northern areas are predicted to experience the wettest and windiest conditions. However, a ridge of high pressure may bring more settled weather later in the period.
