UK Braces for Arctic Blast: Frost and Snow Ahead!
16 Dec
Summary
- Temperatures to drop significantly overnight across Britain.
- Widespread frosts expected, with below freezing temps in the south.
- Yellow weather warning issued for heavy rain and possible flooding.

Chilly winter air is forecast to descend upon the country imminently, bringing a sharp drop in temperatures. Many areas will experience a nine-degree Celsius difference compared to previous nights, with southern England bracing for sub-zero conditions and widespread frost.
While some parts of the north may see milder weather, forecasters predict a chance of snow across higher ground in northern regions and Scotland from Wednesday to Friday. This wintry outlook coincides with a yellow weather warning for heavy rain in southwest England and south Wales.
The rain, potentially accumulating up to 60 mm in vulnerable areas, could cause travel disruption and localized flooding. Despite the unsettled conditions and colder air, brighter spells are expected intermittently throughout the week.
