UK Braces for Arctic Blast: -6C Freeze Ahead!
22 Nov
Summary
- Temperatures will drop as low as -6C in the Scottish Highlands by November 25.
- Sub-zero conditions are expected across much of England and Wales.
- The Met Office issued snow and ice warnings due to a cold northerly airstream.

A severe cold snap is forecasted to grip the UK in the coming days, with temperatures predicted to fall sharply from November 25. Weather maps indicate that the Scottish Highlands could experience lows of -6C, with nearby Inverness facing -4C to -5C. Other parts of Scotland, including Aberdeen and Glasgow, will also see freezing temperatures.
Significant portions of England and Wales are also bracing for sub-zero conditions, particularly in mountainous areas and the Midlands, where temperatures could reach -1C. While southern coastal regions will remain milder, the Met Office has issued warnings for snow and ice across the country due to a cold northerly airstream.
This Arctic air mass is expected to bring icy patches and snow showers, potentially causing travel disruption overnight and into Friday morning. The Chief Forecaster warned of a sharp drop in temperatures, with rural Scotland potentially reaching -12C, and widespread freezing conditions anticipated elsewhere.
