Snowfall Forecast as UK Temperatures Plummet This Week

As of November 11th, 2025, the UK is bracing for a significant drop in temperatures and the potential for snowfall in the coming days. On Monday, the mercury peaked at a balmy 14.8°C in Cardiff, but this warm start to the month is set to be short-lived.

A band of low pressure is moving northeastwards, bringing heavy rain to most regions, particularly Wales and the Northwest of England. As this system progresses, temperatures are expected to plummet, with lows of just 3°C forecast for Saturday. This sharp decline means that a dusting of snow is likely to appear as soon as Thursday across higher ground, including the Cairngorms in Scotland, parts of Aberdeenshire, and potentially Snowdonia in North Wales.

The Met Office's long-range forecast suggests that many central and northern parts of the UK will experience colder and drier conditions, with the potential for overnight frosts and wintry showers near coastal areas. However, some southern and southwestern regions may initially remain cloudier, milder, and wetter, though this is expected to clear away to the south.

Flooding is also a concern, with nearly 40 areas subject to weather warnings. Significant rainfall has already been recorded, with over 30mm battering Hull on Monday and a 25.4mm deluge in just a few hours in Cranwell, Lincolnshire. The Met Office and independent forecaster Netweather both anticipate the possibility of further snowfall later in the month as well.
