As the UK continues to recover from the devastation caused by Storm Claudia, the Met Office has issued a stark warning about the impending Arctic blast that is set to sweep across the country. According to the latest forecasts, a small area of low pressure is expected to bring a band of rain, sleet, and hill snow to parts of the UK on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The wintry showers, including snow, are predicted to hit Scotland, Northern Ireland, the North Yorkshire Moors, west Wales, and the moors of southwest England. Temperatures are also set to plummet, with the Met Office revealing that the evening of November 15 was the coldest night in the UK since March 2025, with temperatures dropping to a chilling -7°C in Tulloch Bridge, Scotland.
In response to the impending cold snap, the UK Health Security Agency has issued a cold weather warning for parts of the Midlands and northern England, effective from Monday until next Friday. This comes as the UK recorded its coldest night since March on Saturday, with temperatures dipping to -7°C in the Highlands.
The Met Office has warned that the cold northerly flow from the Arctic will bring much colder conditions than recently experienced, with widespread frosts and daytime temperatures struggling to reach double figures across the country. The combination of low temperatures and a brisk northerly wind will result in a significant wind chill, making it feel even colder.
