Dujuan is forecast to reach sustained winds of 80mph, with gusts potentially reaching 100mph, bringing heavy rain, flood risks, and high waves.
Exceptional rainfall is anticipated, with some regions in the Chubu and Kanto areas expecting up to 200mm (7.9 inches) in 24 hours. The Tokyo metropolitan area could see nearly 90mm in six hours on Monday evening. The storm is expected to move northeastward and dissipate in the northwest Pacific later this week.
In stark contrast, the Atlantic hurricane season remains unusually calm. Tropical Storm Fay formed but is not expected to intensify, contributing to a record-late start for hurricane formation in the satellite era. Concurrently, parts of South-west Europe, including Spain and Portugal, are experiencing an unseasonably warm spell with temperatures rising significantly above average.
