Two New Atlantic Disturbances Eyed as Hurricane Season Rages On

As of October 2nd, 2025, the National Hurricane Center is closely tracking two new tropical disturbances in the Atlantic Ocean. One of these systems could potentially impact the state of Florida in the coming days.

This news comes as Hurricane Imelda, which had previously brought hurricane-force winds and flash flooding to Bermuda, has now been officially downgraded. However, the remnants of Imelda and Hurricane Humberto will continue to generate life-threatening surf and rip currents along the East Coast, from Florida up to New York, throughout the week.

Forecasters have also provided an update on the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, which began on June 1st and runs through the end of November. This year's season is expected to be above normal, with a 50% chance of seeing 13 to 18 named storms, including up to five major hurricanes with winds exceeding 111 mph.

So far, the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season has been quite unique, with several close calls for the United States. While no hurricanes have made landfall in the country through September, experts warn that the peak of the season is far from over, and residents should remain vigilant as atmospheric conditions could support additional tropical storms and hurricanes well into late October and November.
