Tropical Wave in Atlantic Raises Chances of Next Storms

On October 4th, 2025, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) has reported that the chances of the Atlantic hurricane season's next tropical storm forming within the next seven days have increased. A tropical wave that originated off the western coast of Africa is being closely monitored and has a 50% chance of developing into Tropical Storm Jerry.
The disturbance comes in the wake of recent hurricanes Imelda and Humberto, which have since dissipated. AccuWeather's lead hurricane expert, Alex DaSilva, anticipates that hurricane season will ramp up during its final two months after a lull in activity over the summer.
In addition to the tropical wave, the NHC is also tracking a separate disturbance located much closer to Florida, which has a 10% chance of strengthening into a tropical storm within the next seven days. This system is expected to produce heavy rainfall and possible flooding across portions of Florida and the Bahamas through the weekend.
Meteorologists will continue to monitor both of these disturbances in the Atlantic and provide updates as needed. Residents in hurricane-prone areas are urged to remain vigilant throughout the remainder of the 2025 hurricane season.
