Summary
- Tropical Storm Jerry becomes 10th named storm of 2025 Atlantic hurricane season
- Expected to strengthen into a hurricane by the weekend
- Tropical storm watch issued for parts of the Leeward Islands

As of October 9th, 2025, Tropical Storm Jerry has become the 10th named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season. According to the National Hurricane Center, Jerry is expected to strengthen into a hurricane by the weekend.
A tropical storm watch has been issued for parts of the Leeward Islands, as Jerry is forecast to pass near the area late Thursday and into Friday. Forecasters predict the storm will bring 2 to 4 inches of rain, with localized amounts up to 6 inches, across the Leeward Islands, British Virgin Islands, and U.S. Virgin Islands, raising the risk of flash flooding.
In addition to Jerry, meteorologists are also tracking a nor'easter that is expected to bring the potential for coastal flooding, heavy rain, and strong winds to the U.S. East Coast over the weekend. While the Northeast is expected to see nice, albeit chilly, weather, the Southeast Coast, including Florida, will experience onshore winds leading to high surf, rip currents, and coastal flooding at high tide.
The 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, which began on June 1st and runs through the end of November, has a 50% chance of being above normal. So far, there have been 10 named storms, with the next one to be named Karen.
