As of September 29th, 2025, a weather system is forecast to strengthen into Tropical Storm Imelda later today and approach the South Carolina coast as a hurricane by late Monday or Tuesday. The system is currently located about 285 miles northwest of the eastern tip of Cuba and 100 miles west-southwest of the Central Bahamas, moving north-northwest at 7 mph.
Meanwhile, Hurricane Humberto has weakened slightly but remains a strong Category 4 storm in the Atlantic, with maximum sustained winds of 155 mph. The hurricane is located about 585 miles south of Bermuda and is moving west-northwest at 13 mph. Forecasters say a tropical storm watch could be required in Bermuda later today, and swells from the storm could reach the U.S. East Coast on Monday.
Separately, Tropical Depression Nine is threatening parts of Cuba and the Bahamas with heavy rainfall and flash flooding, with portions of the Bahamas under a tropical storm warning. The system brought heavy rains to the Dominican Republic on Friday, leading to evacuations and a red alert declaration in five provinces.
