Bertha Threatens Texas Coast with Rain, Winds

Tropical Storm Bertha continues its slow path along the Gulf Coast, bringing rain and wind to Louisiana and Texas residents. As of 8 a.m. ET on Thursday, the storm's center was located 70 miles southeast of Lake Charles, Louisiana, moving west at 13 mph. Forecasters predict Bertha's center will traverse the Louisiana coast today before reaching the upper Texas coast this evening or overnight.

Potential impacts include isolated areas of flash flooding, which could persist through Friday morning along the central to western Gulf Coast. Tropical storm-force winds are also anticipated along the upper Texas coast by Thursday night. The storm is expected to move farther inland over Texas later today and tonight, eventually weakening as it moves west and turns slightly west-southwest on Friday.
