17 Jun
Summary
- Terrebonne and Lafourche parishes anticipate 8 to 10 inches of rain.
- Retention areas have been pumped down in preparation for the storm.
- Sandbag locations are open for residents in both parishes.

Terrebonne and Lafourche parishes are actively preparing for substantial rainfall, as Tropical Storm Arthur's bands approach the region. Forecasters predict eight to 10 inches of rain will fall on June 17 and 18. In anticipation of this deluge, both parishes have proactively pumped down their retention areas to increase water storage capacity.
Drainage crews have been deployed to check culverts and ensure proper flow. Some retention areas have been lowered significantly, providing several inches of additional capacity. Residents in both Terrebonne and Lafourche have access to sandbag locations to help protect their properties. These locations are open and residents are encouraged to bring their own shovels.
Terrebonne Parish will monitor the rain event 24/7 from its Emergency Operation Center, allowing for real-time monitoring of automatic pumps. Lafourche Parish will also monitor the event using a work-order system. The storm is expected to bring cooler temperatures into the low to mid 80s.
