Gulf Coast Braces for Tropical Depression Two

Tropical Depression Two is currently moving slowly northwestward in the northeastern Gulf of Mexico and is forecast to become a tropical storm by Monday. As of the latest advisory, winds were 30 mph, but the depression is exhibiting early signs of organization. Consequently, a Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for the Florida Panhandle, extending from the Ochlockonee River to the Alabama state line.

Further watches or warnings are anticipated along the northern Gulf coast within the next one to two days. The system is projected to continue strengthening and move west-northwestward, paralleling the coast through the midweek. Tropical storm conditions may impact Florida Panhandle beaches by Monday evening. The storm is expected to produce 2-4 inches of rainfall along the northern Gulf coast, with isolated amounts reaching 8 inches. Meanwhile, Central Florida will experience drier air, reducing rain chances.
