Three tropical disturbances are currently being monitored in the Atlantic basin as of the morning of August 10, 2026. One system, located south of the Cabo Verde Islands, shows the highest potential for development and could form into a tropical depression by the latter half of this week. This system is expected to move westward to west-northwestward.
While environmental conditions are becoming more favorable for development, particularly by midweek, the immediate threat to Florida remains low. However, forecasters emphasize that residents should always remain prepared for potential storm activity. The Atlantic hurricane season officially runs from June 1 through November 30, with peak activity typically occurring around September 10.
Of the three systems being tracked, one is in the Central Tropical Atlantic, and another is in the Western Subtropical Atlantic. Gradual development is possible for the Central Tropical Atlantic system through mid-week, but upper-level winds are expected to become less favorable. The Western Subtropical Atlantic system is forecast to reach cooler waters, ending its development chances after Wednesday.
