Torrential Rains Flood Arizona, Marking Fourth-Wettest October Day in Phoenix
13 Oct
Summary
- Remnants of Tropical Storm Priscilla bring heavy rains
- Phoenix sees 1.97 inches of rain, fourth-wettest October day
- Flood watch in effect as more rain and thunderstorms expected

On October 12, 2025, heavy rains from the remnants of Tropical Storm Priscilla caused significant flooding across parts of south-central Arizona. The downpour marked the fourth-wettest October day on record for Phoenix, with the city receiving 1.97 inches of rain.
A flood watch remains in effect through late Monday as scattered showers and thunderstorms continue to impact the region. The National Weather Service warns that the heaviest rainfall and greatest flood risk is expected in higher terrain areas north and east of Phoenix. The city could see an additional 1 to 2 inches of rain on Monday, with the highest flash flooding threat during the early afternoon and evening.
Even as the thunderstorms become less widespread, the saturated soils mean that moderate rainfall could quickly trigger flooding. Localized heavy downpours, isolated strong wind gusts, and small hail are also possible. Temperatures are expected to remain below normal throughout the week, and drier air arriving on Tuesday should reduce rain chances, though officials caution residents to avoid flooded streets and remain alert, as runoff is more efficient on already saturated ground.
