Storm Ingrid is set to bring a significant weather front to parts of the UK, with warnings for wind and rain commencing at 2 am on January 23 and lasting until 9 am on January 24. This storm is predicted to affect southwest England and south Wales.
The weather system is expected to deliver two periods of intense weather on Friday. The initial band of rain may drop 10-20 mm in just a few hours, exacerbating already saturated ground conditions. This will be followed by a second wave accompanied by strong winds and coastal gales.
Gusts are anticipated to reach 45-50 mph inland, with coastal regions facing winds up to 60 mph. These powerful winds are expected to peak during Friday evening before gradually subsiding overnight and into Saturday morning. Very large waves are also a concern along the coast.
