Storm Goretti is set to bring heavy snow to large parts of South Yorkshire on Thursday evening. An amber Met Office weather warning has been issued, covering most of Sheffield and areas to its north and west. This warning is active from 20:00 GMT on Thursday until 09:00 on Friday.
Significant travel disruption is anticipated due to the severe weather conditions. As a precautionary measure, TransPennine Express has announced the suspension of all train services between Sheffield and Manchester, effective from 18:00 for the remainder of Thursday.
While the amber warning affects Sheffield, eastern parts of South Yorkshire, including Doncaster, along with West Yorkshire and the Yorkshire Dales, will be under a less severe yellow weather warning. Residents are advised to stay informed about weather updates.
