27 Jan
Summary
- Storm Chandra brings warnings for wind, rain, and snow.
- Flooding and travel disruptions are expected across Scotland.
- Ferry services between Scotland and Northern Ireland are canceled.

Storm Chandra is currently bringing severe weather warnings for wind, rain, and snow to the south of Scotland. The storm is expected to cause significant flooding and travel disruptions, with considerable snow accumulation predicted for higher elevations.
This is the third major storm to affect the UK this month, following Goretti and Ingrid. Yellow wind warnings are in effect for southwest Scotland, while rain and snow warnings cover much of central Scotland. Three specific yellow weather warnings are active, detailing expected snowfall amounts and wind impacts. Some areas are also under more severe amber warnings.
As a result of the forecast high winds, ferry services between Scotland and Northern Ireland have already been affected. Police Scotland has activated Operation Overflow due to canceled sailings between Cairnryan and Loch Ryan Ports and Northern Ireland. Passengers are advised not to travel to the ports as delays are expected.
