An updated weather alert for ice has been issued for the South West region, with a yellow warning in effect from Saturday afternoon until Monday midday. This alert signifies a significant risk of icy conditions developing across untreated surfaces, potentially leading to travel disruptions and increased incidents of slips and falls.

Parts of Devon experienced light snowfall on Saturday, including areas like Torquay, Okehampton, and Plymouth. While many locations may see minimal accumulation, there is a possibility of several centimetres of snow on higher elevations such as Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor, exacerbating the icy conditions.

Authorities are advising residents to exercise caution when traveling, emphasizing that even seemingly clear roads and paths may remain frozen. Drivers are being urged to increase stopping distances, accelerate gently, and maintain greater space between vehicles to mitigate the risks associated with the hazardous weather.
