South Jersey Drenched: Flash Flood Warnings Issued

South Jersey is currently under flash flood warnings affecting nearly every county as relentless storms bring substantial rainfall. Certain areas have already recorded up to 4 inches of precipitation, with projections indicating an additional 2 inches are likely to fall.

As of today, flash flooding has been confirmed in Camden and Burlington counties, and further inundation is expected shortly. This has resulted in the closure of many local roads and is anticipated to affect major thoroughfares, including the New Jersey Turnpike, Garden State Parkway, and various interstates.

Flash flooding poses significant life-threatening risks, particularly in urban environments, near bodies of water, and along highways and underpasses. The National Weather Service strongly advises residents to remain aware of their surroundings and to refrain from driving on flooded roads, emphasizing that most flood-related fatalities occur within vehicles.

All current flash flood warnings are scheduled to conclude by 2:45 p.m. today. However, a broader flood watch will remain in effect throughout the evening.
