9 Jan
Summary
- Santa Ana winds expected to peak Friday and Saturday.
- Gusts reached 52 mph in Ontario and Simi Valley on Thursday.
- Temperatures will rise to the 70s and low 80s next week.

Strong Santa Ana winds are sweeping through Southern California, with their intensity set to peak on Friday and Saturday. Wind alerts were issued yesterday, Thursday, as gusts in Ontario and Simi Valley hit 52 mph, while Porter Ranch recorded 45 mph and Fontana saw 30 mph.
The wind pattern has shifted from north to northeast, characteristic of Santa Ana winds, prompting the lifting of the LA basin wind advisory today. The San Bernardino County mountains and Ventura County valleys have been the most affected areas.
Despite the ongoing winds, temperatures are expected to rise. While Friday begins with cool temperatures in the 40s, highs across the LA and Orange County metro areas will climb from the low 60s today to the 70s by next Thursday. The valleys and Inland Empire will see a similar trend, moving from highs in the mid-60s to the low 80s by next Wednesday.
