According to the latest weather reports, four states are set to experience significant snowfall this weekend. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued winter weather advisories for Wyoming, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Michigan, warning residents of the impending impacts.
The snowfall is expected to begin on Saturday, with accumulations of up to 5 inches in South Dakota and Wyoming, and up to 8 inches in parts of Minnesota and Michigan. Gusty winds of up to 45 miles per hour will cause blowing snow, further exacerbating travel conditions.
The snowfall is part of an incoming cold front that will bring more winterlike temperatures to much of the country. For many areas, this will mark the first snowfall of the season, arriving right on track with climatological averages.
The winter weather advisories are currently in place and are expected to expire by late Monday morning or afternoon, although the advisory for South Dakota and Wyoming will end sooner, on Saturday night.
