Snow Emergencies Grip Greater Cincinnati
25 Jan
Summary
- Northern Kentucky counties declared level 1 snow emergencies.
- Kentucky's governor declared a state of emergency ahead of the storm.
- Unnecessary travel is discouraged under level 1 snow emergency status.

Multiple counties and cities across the Greater Cincinnati region have issued snow emergencies in anticipation of an approaching winter storm. Boone, Kenton, and Campbell counties in Northern Kentucky have collectively declared a Level 1 snow emergency.
These emergencies are slated to take effect at noon on Saturday, January 24. A Level 1 designation signifies that while no roads are officially closed, unnecessary travel is strongly discouraged for public safety.
In response to the impending weather, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has declared a statewide state of emergency. This declaration facilitates the deployment of critical state resources, including the Kentucky Emergency Management agency and the Kentucky National Guard. As of Saturday morning, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine had not yet issued a similar state of emergency for Ohio.
Definitions for snow emergency levels can differ by state and county, but generally indicate increasing severity and restrictions on travel. This is a developing story.
