30 Sep, 2025
Summary
- Skegness to undergo major road and pavement resurfacing works
- 16 schemes and 4 utility projects to cause traffic disruption
- Councillor calls it a "major investment" despite inconvenience

Residents of Skegness, Lincolnshire are bracing for a significant period of road closures and traffic disruptions over the next six months, as the local council embarks on a major infrastructure revamp project.
According to the announcement, a comprehensive program of works, including the resurfacing of roads and pavements, has already commenced and is scheduled to conclude in March 2026. Lincolnshire County Council has warned that the 16 schemes and four sets of utility company works will cause considerable traffic disruption throughout the town.
Despite the inconvenience, Councillor Jimmy Brookes has described the initiative as a "major investment for Skegness." He has urged residents, businesses, and visitors to plan their journeys accordingly and to liaise with the on-site crews, who are there to assist in keeping the community moving during this period of upheaval.
The specific road closures and traffic management measures include a three-way temporary traffic light system and the closure of Castleton Boulevard at the A158/A52 Ship Junction from October 20th to December 19th. Additionally, the Service Road East off Lyndhurst Avenue will be closed from October 20th to 23rd, and there will be a lane closure at the Roman Bank junction with Lumley Road from October 6th to 7th.
The council has also warned of non-council works that will further impact the local traffic network, including substation works by National Grid Electric on Brunswick Drive from October 27th to November 7th, and various repair and maintenance projects by Anglian Water on the A52 Roman Bank and surrounding areas in December.
While the road and infrastructure improvements may cause short-term disruptions, the council's commitment to investing in Skegness' transportation network is expected to yield long-term benefits for the community.
