According to the latest weather forecasts, Britain is set to experience a dramatic temperature drop later this month, with northern Scotland expected to bear the brunt of the chill. Inverness-shire, Scotland's largest county, is predicted to see temperatures plummet to as low as -5°C, while the rest of northern Scotland faces bitter lows of -4°C and -3°C on November 17.
The freezing conditions are expected to sweep across the nation, stretching as far north as Sutherland and as far south as Devon around midnight on November 17. The bitter weather is set to continue through the early morning hours, with minimum temperatures ranging from -5°C in northern Scotland to 0°C in Devon and Wales.
This potential cold snap comes after a mild and soggy start to November. The Met Office's extended forecast suggests a transition to a less unsettled weather pattern from around November 11 or 12, with drier weather becoming more common and winds turning southeasterly or easterly. However, any rain or showers are more likely to be focused towards the east.
