SEQ Drenched: Weeks of Rain Batter Queensland
26 Oct
Summary
- South-east Queensland braces for another wet week with persistent rain.
- Many parts of Queensland saw two to four times average October rainfall.
- Severe storms could return midday, especially over NSW's Northern Rivers.

Residents across south-east Queensland are bracing for another week of significant rainfall and potential storms. The region has already endured a considerably wet period, with many areas receiving two to four times their typical October rainfall in the past seven days.
Over the weekend, broad sections of eastern and south-eastern Australia experienced heavy downpours, with Queensland recording the highest totals. The inland Wide Bay-Burnett region and Central Ranges north of Brisbane saw between 200-300 millimetres of rain by Sunday evening.
While a severe thunderstorm warning for south-east Queensland was cancelled early Monday, meteorologists anticipate storms could redevelop after midday due to high temperatures and humidity. These conditions are especially likely over the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales. The latter half of the week is expected to bring longer periods of clearer weather and cooler temperatures, with conditions easing by Friday.
