Longview Reels from Sudden Storm: Businesses Battered, Cleanup Underway

On Sunday, October 8th, 2025, a powerful microburst with winds reaching 80 to 85 mph struck the city of Longview, Washington, causing significant damage to the local area. According to the National Weather Service, the sudden storm hit around 3:13 pm, damaging 4 commercial buildings and several nearby properties in the 500 block of 14th Avenue.

The intense winds toppled trees, fences, and temporary structures, while also scattering debris across multiple city blocks. Numerous vehicles were also damaged in the incident. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the storm.

City officials have been working diligently to assess the affected structures and survey the power lines, poles, and electrical systems in the area. The National Weather Service Damage Assessment Team has also surveyed the scene, concluding that the damage was most likely caused by the powerful microburst. However, they have not completely ruled out the possibility of a tornado and are asking the public to share any photos or videos that could provide further insight.
