A widespread spell of rain is forecasted across Northeast India from July 17 to July 19. Arunachal Pradesh is expected to receive the heaviest rainfall, with parts of the state facing a Red Alert on July 18 for extremely heavy rainfall. Other states like Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura will also experience significant rainfall.
The Meteorological Centre in Itanagar has identified Papum Pare and Kurung Kumey districts in Arunachal Pradesh as high-risk areas. Papum Pare is under a Red Alert from July 17 to July 19, anticipating 12 to 20 cm of rain within 24 hours. Kurung Kumey faces a Red Alert on July 18 and 19 for 6 to 11 cm of rainfall.
Authorities are warning of potential flash floods, landslides, and overflowing streams due to the prolonged rainfall. Waterlogging, falling trees, and disrupted road connectivity are anticipated, especially in hill districts. Low-lying areas may face temporary flooding, and residents are urged to stay alert and follow advisories.
