NJ Heatwave: 80s Now, 90s Ahead!
14 Apr
Summary
- Temperatures will rise into the 80s and potentially 90s this week.
- Severe thunderstorms with 60 mph wind gusts are possible Tuesday.
- The Jersey Shore will experience cooler temperatures due to sea breezes.

New Jersey residents can expect a substantial temperature increase this week, with highs reaching the low to mid-80s on Tuesday and climbing into the upper 80s to around 90 degrees by Wednesday. This warm spell could mark the first 90-degree day since early September and may lead to several daily temperature records being broken. Severe thunderstorms are anticipated between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Tuesday, particularly in areas north and west of the I-95 and I-195 corridors, with the potential for damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph. Northwestern New Jersey is under a slight risk for severe weather.
While the interior of the state heats up, the Jersey Shore will remain considerably cooler due to the influence of cold ocean waters and an afternoon sea breeze. A stray shower or thunderstorm is possible on Wednesday and Thursday, mainly north of the I-78 corridor, but no significant rainfall is expected. Temperatures are forecast to stay well above normal through Saturday. A cold front is predicted to move through on Sunday, bringing showers and a chance of thunderstorms, with temperatures dropping closer to normal by Monday.
