NJ Braces for Powerful Storms: 75 MPH Winds Ahead!

All 21 counties in New Jersey are under a severe thunderstorm watch that is expected to last until 9 p.m. on Monday, August 10th. This alert, issued by the National Weather Service on Monday afternoon, also encompasses parts of New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland. Residents should prepare for frequent lightning and scattered wind gusts that could reach speeds of up to 75 mph. There is also a chance of isolated hail, with stones potentially reaching the size of a quarter.

This severe weather outlook comes after a period of intense storms in North Jersey, beginning in mid-July. These past events included two confirmed tornadoes touching down in Sussex and Morris counties on July 21st. Some areas in North Jersey have already experienced over 3 inches of rain from these storms, resulting in significant flash flooding that has submerged roads and parking lots.
