27 Jan
Summary
- Additional snow expected across 14 states through Tuesday night.
- Western Michigan and central New York anticipate the heaviest snowfall.
- Below-average temperatures forecast for the eastern U.S. this week.

More snow is anticipated across 14 states as new clipper systems arrive following the recent Winter Storm Fern. AccuWeather meteorologists predict additional snowfall through Tuesday night, with western Michigan and central New York likely to experience the heaviest accumulations. This upcoming system is expected to drop between 1 to 6 inches of snow, with lake-effect snow contributing to higher totals in localized areas. Many of the affected states have already endured between 12 and 18 inches of snow from the previous storm.
Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing throughout much of the U.S. this week, meaning the snow already on the ground will likely persist. Where temperatures may briefly rise above freezing, the resulting wet conditions are predicted to refreeze overnight, creating hazardous ice for pedestrians and motorists. Looking ahead, below-average temperatures are forecast to continue across the eastern half of the U.S. through early February, increasing the likelihood of ongoing winter weather conditions.
