NCR Monsoon Mayhem: Rains Trigger Waterlogging Chaos
25 Aug
Summary
- Noida and Greater Noida saw significant water accumulation in low-lying areas.
- Ghaziabad reported minor waterlogging that drained within an hour.
- Traffic signals were affected on NH-9 near Wave City due to waterlogging.

Monsoon systems over north India are bringing intermittent rain to the National Capital Region (NCR), with forecasts indicating partly cloudy skies and potential showers for districts. This rainfall has exposed infrastructure weaknesses, leading to significant water accumulation in low-lying areas of Noida and Greater Noida. Residents reported flooding around residential pockets and key roads.
Commuters experienced difficulties due to waterlogging near Noida's Sector 62 metro station and other stretches. In Ghaziabad, minor waterlogging occurred briefly after Monday morning's showers, but civic teams managed to drain the water within an hour. The Ghaziabad station recorded 13mm of rain, with temperatures at 31°C and humidity at 92%.
Further disruptions were observed on the National Highway-9 stretch near Wave City and Lal Kuan, impacting morning traffic signals. While some areas like Indirapuram experienced minimal waterlogging that drained quickly, the overall impact underscores the challenges posed by seasonal rains in urban infrastructure.
